The Crowned Clown was released in 2019 on its original Network, tvN but will now be coming to Netflix for international fans and everyone wants to know when it will release.
The highly popular show, The Crowned Clown (Translated from: Wang-i doen namja) is a South Korean series, directed by Kim Hee-won and developed by Studio dragon.
The historical melodrama is based on the 2012 movie ‘Masquerade’, which followed the premise of a humble acrobat that stands in for his doppelganger king when his king is faced with assassination attempts.
The Crowned Clown is expected to release on Netflix U.S. at 12 PM PDT on Tuesday, 10th August 2021. Netflix has not yet confirmed when the rest of the world will be able to watch the series on their platform. However, HITC believes it may release worldwide on Netflix in the following months. For the time being, international fans can find the series on Rakuten Viki.
All 16 episodes are expected to release at the same time. To stream the series when it releases, fans will need a subscription which costs $8.99USD a month. Prices can vary depending on the plan you choose.

THE CROWNED PRINCE PLOT EXPLAINED
The series is set in a mid-Joseon time period, during which there were many power struggles amongst the royals and everyone else. The premise follows a desperately unhappy king who wishes to escape his life temporarily.
One day finds a doppelganger who works as a court clown and so puts the clown in his place to take over with the kingdom and royal family and so that any assassination attempts on his life would be unsuccessful with assassins potentially killing the clown instead.
Complications arise when the clown does the job as the king of Joseon a bit too well based on his own merits.

Though the series has not been renewed and like many other K-dramas sits comfortably with one season, it did quite well with reviews sitting at 7.6/10 on IMDB and 4.9 on Google Reviews.
